The Little Kanawha District of the United Methodist Men Fellowship will be distributing potatoes to food pantries in eight counties this weekend.
On Saturday, more than 40,000 pounds of potatoes will be unloaded by employees of Peoples Cartage at their Camden Avenue warehouses, said Monty Craig with Stout Memorial United Methodist Church.
"About three years ago Peoples Cartage allowed us to bring the potato trailers in there and off load the produce there and this year we want to thank them for their help," Craig said.
During the distribution, the organization will recognize Dan Stemple and Sharon Keith with Peoples Cartage for their help in the past and future.
"Since they offered their facility and help to us, we have just expected it and we want them to know how much we appreciate what they have done for us," Craig said.
Both Stemple and Keith will receive special appreciation plaques for their help in the continuing success of the projects, planning and directing of them.
